A Better Way to Move Through Divorce
We built Vaz Law for individuals who want more than a courtroom battle. Liz founded this practice after living through divorce as a child and seeing, as an attorney, how the traditional system escalates conflict and hands deeply personal decisions to a judge. Our approach is different: empathetic, holistic, and always focused on keeping you out of court and in control of your future.
Dignity, Confidentiality & Control
Your private finances and family decisions stay out of public court records. You keep control, not a judge.
Clients, Not Paychecks
We never keep conflict alive to bill more hours. We approach every client with empathy and integrity.
Trained in Collaborative & Mediation
Liz is trained in Collaborative Divorce and mediation, and is a certified divorce mediator in central Florida too.
Holistic, Future-Focused Support
We don't just end a marriage, we help you build what comes next, with community and empowerment at the center.

Frequently Asked Questions About Vaz Law
What is the primary difference between Collaborative Divorce and Mediation?▼
In Divorce Mediation, a single neutral mediator guides both spouses toward an agreement, but does not represent either party. In Collaborative Divorce, each spouse has their own trained Collaborative attorney present in meetings, pledged solely to reaching an out-of-court settlement.
Will I ever have to appear in court if I use Vaz Law?▼
In over 95% of our Collaborative, mediated, and uncontested cases, our clients never have to step foot inside a courtroom. All paperwork is submitted electronically or directly to the court clerk.
How do I schedule a consultation with Elizabeth Vaz?▼
You can easily schedule a 60-minute virtual Zoom or phone consultation using our online booking link or by calling our Uniondale office directly at (844) 785-2900.
How much does a divorce cost through Vaz Law?▼
Because we focus on Collaborative resolution and mediation rather than court fights, our clients routinely save 50% to 75% compared to traditional litigation. We offer clear, transparent fee structures discussed upfront.
Where is Vaz Law located?▼
Our primary office is located at 405 RXR Plaza in Uniondale, NY 11556. We are a virtual-first firm and serve clients across Nassau County, Suffolk County, and all of New York State via Zoom. In-person meetings are available by appointment when needed.
What happens during the initial consultation?▼
During your session, we review your marital situation, discuss assets and parenting goals, explain available legal paths, and provide a clear, empathetic strategy for moving forward.
Do you offer virtual or Zoom consultations?▼
Yes. Most of our consultations and mediation sessions happen virtually over Zoom, so you can meet with Elizabeth Vaz from anywhere in New York. In-person sessions are also available at our Uniondale office by appointment.
Can Elizabeth Vaz mediate for couples outside of New York?▼
Elizabeth is a certified divorce mediator in central Florida, so she can provide mediation services to Florida couples as well. She practices family law in New York and is trained in both Collaborative Divorce and mediation.
What if my spouse doesn't want to use mediation or Collaborative Divorce?▼
We help you understand the paths available and, where possible, invite your spouse to participate. If they decline, we can still guide you through a negotiated settlement or explain your other options, always with the goal of keeping your matter as peaceful and private as possible.
Is everything kept confidential?▼
Yes. Collaborative and mediated negotiations happen in private meetings, not public courtrooms. Your financial details, parenting discussions, and personal matters never become part of a public court record.
Do you handle cases involving children and custody?▼
Absolutely. Parenting plans, custody schedules, and child support are a core part of what we do. We often work with neutral child specialists to craft schedules built around your children's actual routines and needs.
What is the Divorce Den?▼
The Divorce Den is an extension of Liz Vaz's mission, a free educational resource and YouTube channel for people at any stage of the journey, from questioning a relationship to healing after divorce. It offers honest, supportive conversations about relationships, healing, mediation, finances, custody, and the legal process.
